WHAT IS THE M PRACTICE?

 

The M Practice is a holistic mental health practice that helps you incorporate healthy habits into your life and find your happy balance.It revolves around The 5 Ms of Mindfulness, Movement, Meeting, Meaning and Me. Focusing on these areas has been proven to increase your happiness and can also help improve your mental health. You can read more information below on how to complete the practices or just jump right in.

These online M practices can be tailored to meet your likes and needs. They can be carried out online by yourself, or you can listen with others in a class format with a partner or with friends. For the best results, it is recommended to be undertaken with others. You can practice at home, out in nature, in a public place or venue with other people. Each Practice varies but can include intention or goal setting, meditation, breathwork, a choice of yoga, mindful stretching, cardio, dance or other exercise program, as well as self-compassion or gratitude practices. These are combined together into practices lasting between 10 - 60 minutes. The idea is to make these habits as easy as possible to include in your life. Your practice can be what you want it to be, as you have several class styles and themes to choose from. We would love for you to uncover the perfect M Practice for you. You are your greatest teacher, listen to your intuition, the practice is there to help guide you. So feel free to take what works for you and leave what does not. You can tailor the movement portion of your class to suit your preference or your mood. We would recommend starting with one of the shorter practices and building on that. We also have many shorter Meditations you can try if you are short on time.

HOW TO APPROACH THE PRACTICE

This should be a safe and non-judgemental space. So please make a commitment during the practice not to be critical or judging of yourself and others. It doesn’t matter how good you are at meditating, how fit or flexible you think you are or if you can dance or not. It is about taking some time out, prioritising some self-care and disconnecting from the stresses you may have in your life. The point is to find a practice that suits you, do it with people you like and move your body in a way you enjoy. It is about connecting inwards and to others. So please try to do your best to get out of your head, to relax, enjoy and have fun. Be kind to yourself during the practice, listen to your body and do what's right for you. You do you!

HOW TO COMPLETE AN ONLINE PRACTICE

  1. Pick a Practice that is suitable for you.

  2. Read through the Class Guide before you start.

  3. Use the Playlist provided for the Practice or...

  4. Use your favourite songs from your own Playlist. 

  5. Prepare or select your exercise program, if applicable.

  6. Play the audio for the class option you have chosen.

  7. Follow the guided instructions for each section.

  8. Keep the page with the chosen class audio open so you can return to it.
